Rehabilitation
*Faster recovery in your rehabilitation
process
*Gain back mobility, flexibility, function and strength faster
If you have been injured or had surgery, sports massage can have a very important role to play in helping you recover. It can help alleviate pain and discomfort and correct any muscle imbalances caused by your injury. Massage will hasten your recovery time so you can get back to your normal life quicker. Sports massage will help restore full function and mobility to your injured muscle so that once you are healed the injury leaves no lasting effects.
Immediately after an injury sports massage can help by reducing swelling and bruising. It will disperse fluids and increase circulation to help move nutrients to the injury site helping your muscles to heal. This means that you can start to move more freely again and pressure on other tissues is lifted, taking away some of your pain. I will be able to advise you on how to care for your injury in between appointments and treatments you can use at home.
Regular massage during the recovery stage can help breakdown the scar tissue
that forms around your injury so that your muscle doesn't become restricted
and hinder your movement in the future. If this isn't done full range of movement
may not be restored and may lead to continued discomfort or even further injury
as the muscle is no longer able to do its job properly.
If you are unable to exercise for any reason a good massage will help maintain
muscle tone and prevent some of the knock on effects of having an injury such
as the muscle imbalance that may occur from a limp.
If you are an athlete or sporting person massage will be a very important component of your rehabilitation process, allowing you to get back to where you left off faster and more completely.
